Introduction to IRI
Company History
The Interstate Resources Group had its beginning in 1939 as a single box plant in Glendale, NY. In 1957, a box plant and a paper mill in Reading, PA were purchased. In 1958, a sheet plant was added in Lowell, MA. In 1966-1968, a paper mill was built in Riceboro, GA.
In 1993, another paper mill was built in Reading, PA; in 1996, a box plant was built in Cambridge, MD; in 2002, a sheet plant was acquired in North Brunswick, NJ, along with an equity position in a corrugated sheet feeder facility in Vineland, NJ. In 2003, Interstate acquired a sheet plant in Fitchburg, MA with five-color print capabilities. In 2004, Interstate obtained an equity position in a sheet feeder operation in Asheboro, NC.
Overview
Current operations include two paper mills, a timber operation, three corrugated container operations,
and two sheet plants in the Eastern United States.
Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, Interstate Resources, Inc. has manufacturing facilities located in Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey employing over 900 people.
Interstate has a capacity of 320,000 tons of linerboard, and 160,000 tons of medium per year; the corrugated converting and packaging operations have a total annual capacity of 3.4 billion square feet. Interstate participates in the industry's routine trading practice, by trading 50% of the consumption of our corrugated box plants with other containerboard manufacturers.
Our primary markets are in the Northeastern and Southeastern United States with a growing commitment to the Midwest. Additionally, we export paper to Canada, Central America, South America, Asia, Africa and Europe. All of our corrugated container production is sold domestically.

Interstate Paper
Riceboro, GA
Our kraft linerboard mill produces
920 tons per day of high compression strength and kraft linerboard grades from 35# to 69# on its 188-inch paper machine. Interstack®-35, Interstack®-52, and Interstack®-55 are new high performance grades, introduced to provide added value to edge crush test packaging.
United Corrstack
Reading, PA
Our 100% recycled medium mini-mill produces 440 tons per day of lightweight and high-performance corrugating medium in grades from 23-pound to 36-pound. Corrstack®-26 survives the rigors of the corrugating operation and often outperforms semi-chem medium.
Newport Timber
Riceboro, GA
Responsible for all wood procurement efforts for Interstate, NPT secures timber tracts through outright purchases and/or land leases, and procures one million tons of pulpwood and chips for Interstate Paper LLC annually. Another 100,000 tons of wood fiber are purchased and sold to local area consumers.
RB Lumber
Riceboro, GA
Our sawmill manufactures high quality southern yellow pine lumber, which is primarily sold to treating plants located in the southeast. On-site rail service also provides the ability to ship throughout the U.S. Additionally, RBL’s state-of-the-art chipmill provides 75-80 percent of the wood chips consumed by Interstate Paper.

Interstate Container - Reading
Reading, PA
Providing top of the line corrugated packaging with multicolor type and graphics, as well as litho-laminating for attention getting point of purchase displays, ICR's 720 million square feet per year capacity includes a state of the art design center and the first 8-color Flexo printer to be used in corrugated post-printing.
Interstate Container - Lowell
Lowell, MA
With a 600 million square feet per year capacity encompassing a realm of products ranging from small quantity stock boxes and displays, to a full spectrum of high volume die cut and regular slotted container products, ICL is a full-service corrugated packaging manufacturer providing creative solutions to unique customer needs.
Interstate Container - Cambridge
Cambridge, MD
Interstate's specialty packaging plant produces wax-impregnated, curtain-coated and "dry" boxes for the poultry, seafood, produce and industrial markets. In addition, they manufacture and stock bulk bins and "belly banded" bulk bins for these same markets.

Interstate Container - Brunswick serves customers with a complete line of corrugated products, from brown boxes and specialty die cuts to design and point-of-purchase displays.

Interstate Container - Westminster serves customers with a broad range of specialty products including high-print graphics, litho, fulfillment packaging and point-of-purchase displays.
