Overview
After opening our doors in November 1996, Interstate Container - Cambridge quickly established a reputation as the premier wax corrugated supplier on the East coast. Stringent quality requirements for our paper, wax, and starch laid the foundation for a quality process that continually produces the best product for the perishable foods industry.
Manufacturing tightly-specified product that is shipped to locations from Florida to Canada takes a great deal of energy and focus. That is why we are proud of the reputation we have built and maintained from our rural location on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This reputation
was also accomplished with
the investment of
state-of-the-art
manufacturing equipment, an
investment that continues at
the plant today.
Products & Services
Our product line includes curtain coated or wax impregnated boxes, bulk containers, produce boxes, non-waxed corrugated, and a myriad of other packaging products for the agriculture industry. Our A-flute capability is a tremendous asset to go with our B- and C-flutes.
Sustainability
From the first day the plant opened in 1996, we have not allowed our wax corrugated board to be sent to landfills. All waste is captured and used as a fuel for our boilers. We go a step further and take the same waste from our customers and save them tens of thousands of dollars in landfill fees.
From waste prevention to wax alternatives, Interstate Container has taken more steps toward Sustainability with our customers than our competitors. We implement recycling programs at our customer locations. We reduce their box-room waste with machine PM programs along with many other aggressive ideas. Additionally, we can provide wax alternative packaging to replace paraffin-based wax boxes to increase recycling with the end customers.
Wax Alternatives
We have done extensive testing and trials with a wax alternative product that will perform in the most difficult ice pack conditions. This product is from a renewable resource, and is repulpable, compostable, and biodegradable. This box allows our customers to deliver their products in a package that meets Sustainability guidelines being set by major retailers. By decreasing our reliance on petroleum-based and/or resin-based raw materials, and providing a product that works under extremely wet conditions with rigorous handling, Interstate Container remains the premier choice for poultry, seafood, and produce customers.
